This position is responsible for providing educated decisions on the condition of titles for properties based upon underwriting and product principles.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • Responsible for preparation and review of search package for completeness and correct copies to establish a valid chain of title and to identify any open mortgages, liens, and encumbrances
  • Perform easement and restriction searches
  • Research property tax information
  • Perform survey review
  • Aid in the resolution of issues resulting from missing, incorrect, inaccurate, or contradictory information
  • Answer routine customer service questions
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years prior title industry experience required
  • Proficient in using Laredo, Data Trace and County Register of Deeds/Treasurer Websites
  • Must have the ability to work at the Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Register of Deeds Offices as needed
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Knowledge of ResWare, a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate will need to obtain Michigan Resident Producer License within 4 months of hire date
